In a city with 8.5 million people your chances of running into a familiar face by chance are slim to none. In the fall of 2012, Lisa and Matt ran into each other three separate times at various different locations throughout Manhattan. First Encounter: Consisted of a few too many drinks but was filled with great conversation that closed down Stumble Inn, an Upper East Side dive bar. However, having lived in the city for 3 months, Lisa had already learned that the typical high finance man was NOT her type. She was quick to judge Matt as such and ignored his subsequent invitation to go on a date. Second Encounter: Saturday nights for Matt and Lisa are all about college football. During hurricane Sandy, the devastation caused the Oregon Football bar to temporarily close, forcing Lisa and friends up north to find a new place to watch the game. They ended up at an Ohio State bar where Matt regularly watched the Buckeyes. Given Matt was with a girl, they only had a short, but pleasant conversation. Lisa began to question her initial judgement and was disappointed that she would probably never see him again. Third Encounter: Only 5 days after this second encounter, Matt and Lisa bumped into each other a third time at a restaurant in a completely different part of the city! Both Lisa and Matt were convinced they had stalkers. The following evening, Matt took Lisa to a gallery opening at the Guggenheim Museum for their first date… 5 years later he proposed at this very location.
