The Foundings of H&M

It all started with some Taco Bell...

We met at our church, Revival City! One day, Michael was working at our church's coffee house ministry. I had walked in to grab a coffee and do some work, and one of Michael's first sentences to me was, "Hi! Welcome to Mike's Coffee Shop! Can I make you the Mike Special?" He charmed me with his humor, but we didn't start dating until about a year later after this interaction. We proceeded to run in different friend circles for a few months, but we would see each other during our leadership meetings for our church's college ministry. We lovingly called the ministry "House Church." During these meetings, a small group of young adults that led House Church would gather together to eat dinner, work on logistics, and pray over the ministry. It was in these meetings that Michael and I got to see each others' hearts for the Lord. We were drawn to each others' deep love for Jesus. I remember thinking, "Wow, Michael is really humble. I love the way he prays." But, I had no idea that I was in the same room as my future husband. In the fall of 2024, we were hanging out at House Church. Michael and I had struck up a conversation in the kitchen while I reheated my coffee. He was asking me questions about my life and I remembered thinking, "He's being really intentional with me. Wonder what's going on..." We were some of the last people to leave that night! He walked me to my car, opened my car door for me, and jokingly buckled in some big pizza boxes into the passenger seat to make sure they didn't fly around the car, once again charming me with his humor. I drove home smiling and thought, "Wait, do I like Michael?" Turns out, he liked me too. About a month before Michael asked me out, we both spent some intentional time in prayer. We gave our feelings to the Lord and waited on Him to lead us into a dating relationship if it was the right next step. A week before Michael asked me out, he reached out to me wishing me well on a work trip. We texted the whole week while I was gone! I began to feel excited to get home so Michael could ask me out! When I finally got back from my trip, there was one night where Michael called me. We talked for 3 hours, and I told him I had to go make dinner. He joked with me that I could just go pick up Taco Bell. For those of you who don't know, it was common knowledge amongst my friends that I had never tried Taco Bell. I thought it was gross. I said, "Michael, I'm not getting Taco Bell." He said, "Would you eat some if I brought it to you?" I was quiet over the phone. So, what does Michael do? Brings me Taco Bell, of course. I avoided the taco he put on my kitchen table for the first few minutes, shocked that he had driven to my house! I told him, "Michael, if I take a bite of this taco, will you let me make my dinner?" And he said, "If you take a bite of this taco, I will make you dinner." And that got my attention. Michael and I had a sweet night that night. We made some yummy gnocchi, and later that week, he asked me out officially! Michael and I love our dating story, and both have a heart to display the gospel with our marriage! If you want to ask us more about our story or about the gospel in general, Michael and I would love to talk to you! We can't wait to celebrate with you all! Michael’s Version: Hannah is the most stunningly beautiful, kind, and thoughtful person I have ever met. I thought she was awesome from the moment I met her, and as I got to know her more, I kept thinking, “Wow, I hope I find someone like Hannah one day”. Turns out… I had already found my Hannah. It was Hannah. When I realized I liked her, I tried my best to stay away from her (difficult, as you can imagine), but when we went camping with a few friends and she sat next to me at the fire every night, I knew I had no chance, she is just too wonderful not to ask out. I’m not sure exactly how it happened–after all, I did black out after she said I could make her dinner–I’m just so thankful it did.
