I first met Taylor during our freshmen year of college through a mutual friend. He walked into the room we were hanging out in and immediately made an impression on me, I wanted to get to know him! Well, I quickly changed my mind when he moved into the dorm next to mine the following semester. Him and his roommate would play loud video games at odd hours of the night, screaming at their victories. Anyone who knows me knows if you mess my with my sleep there will be hell to pay and I was no longer impressed! My roommate and I would retaliate: banging on the wall, stealing their peephole, and constantly knocking on their door and running away to annoy them. The following year upon returning from our summers off, we would soon encounter each other again. On my way into work at an after-school program, who was in the staffroom when I walked in? Our one and only Taylor Cathcart, my freshman foe! I remember my jaw literally dropped. I couldn't believe I had to work with kids with this guy and tolerate him. Yet, throughout our days working together, I noticed I was not just tolerating him, I was looking forward to the next work shift we would have together. Taylor and I slowly cultivated a friendship most of that year, with each of us keeping our admiration for each other to ourselves. I changed jobs in the Spring of that year and with that change our friendship stared to fizzle out. Once again, we parted ways over the Summer. I stayed in Keene waitressing and getting over a break-up, Taylor spent the Summer at home with his new companion: Hoover. Our friendship had become distant and I tried not to think about it. July of that Summer, Taylor had reached out one day and I was elated. We continued messaging each other into the school year when I asked to meet his dog. Hoover became a pivotal part in our relationship and I truly don't know if we would be together without him bringing us together. Eventually I was walking everyday with Taylor and Hoover, and we built a relationship on those walks. Everyday, we chose to walk together: navigating any challenging roadblocks and enjoying our journey.
