On October 17th, 2015, Austin and Sidney went on their first date… seeing Dear White People at Regal Union Square. In spite of her friends telling her otherwise, Sidney did not know it was meant to be a date. When Austin invited her to see Inherent Vice that December, Sidney made sure to buy the tickets to emphasize the fact that they were just friends. For the rest of their sophomore year at NYU, they would hang out sporadically, but Austin’s friends got the vibe that Sidney just wasn’t that into him. But he had slowly won her over, so by the time Austin finally told Sidney about his feelings for her that April, she was willing to “try it out.” That fall, Austin and Sidney both studied abroad in London, where their relationship flourished. When they came back to the states, they collaborated on multiple school projects, and Austin officially met Sidney’s dog, Charlie, who insisted on sleeping with Austin in the guest room. After they graduated from NYU in the Spring of 2017, Sidney accepted a job at Shondaland in Los Angeles, while Austin accepted a job at ABC News in New York. For a year and a half, they maintained a long distance relationship, attempting to visit each other every other month with the aid of their new JetBlue credit cards. In March of 2019, Austin accepted a job in Los Angeles, and moved in with Sidney. Over the next few years, Sidney would get to travel with Austin’s family on multiple trips, and Austin lived with Sidney’s family at their home in Folsom, California during the pandemic. In May of 2022, Austin began planning how he would propose to Sidney, with the help of Sidney’s friends and family (shoutout to Auntie Karen, for secretly confirming the ring Sidney wanted). On July 16th, 2022, Austin proposed to Sidney at The Parker in Palm Springs, California. They both look forward to a lifetime of traveling together, eating everything from fine dining to Dave’s Hot Chicken, and taking over Hollywood.
