We first met in 2018 during our freshman year at NAU in Flagstaff, where we were next door neighbors in our dorm. The girls that Cassidy lived with and the boys Tanner did all met, and formed a group of great friends from that point on. We spent all of our time together, from doing hours of homework to taking group trips. The two of us quickly became best friends, and over the following year, spent every minute we had together, but we were always still just best friends…..right? We each spent a year of trying to hide from each other how the other was truly feeling, both not wanting to jeopardize our valued friendship. On February 5th, 2020, we finally told each other the truth, and have been together ever since! After graduating from NAU together, we moved to Phoenix, AZ so we could both continue our Masters degrees. We then moved to Austin, Texas, where we both started our careers. Tanner started his as a sports dietitian and Cassidy hers as a nurse. We lived there for about a year and a half, then moved to Northern Virginia, where we are now!

We visited Flagstaff, Arizona from Austin for our friends’ wedding. The next day, we took a drive up to the mountain peak. Tanner pulled off the side of the road and suggested that we take a walk on the path to admire the scenery. On that walk, Tanner then got down on one knee and asked the question!
