How We Met

7.9.14

We met in summer Spanish class where my nerdy self sat in the front of the class while Molly sat in the back. Everyday I would admire her as she walked by my seat (you should've seen her in this summer dress!), and one day while construction was going on in the building, I pretended to be lost while walking out of class. So, I waited for Molly to leave the classroom and then "casually" bumped into her asking how do we get out of the building? What was a simple question led to great conversation as we talked and slowly walked to our cars, which were "ironically" parked next to each other. From that day on, we would meet up at the end of class to walk to our cars together. On the last day of class while I was waiting EXTRA long for Molly to finish her Spanish final, I followed her up to hand in the papers (without her knowing) and got her name off her exam so I could have one final walk to our cars together and to ask her out on a date. We had an instant connection from our first date at Mosquito Grill in Doylestown, PA, to then home cooked meals and hikes around Lake Galena before heading back to Penn State for the fall semester.

The Proposal

2.14.20

It was a beautiful early morning on our first day of vacation to Carmel, California cruising in our convertible BMW blasting American Girl by Tom Petty down the Pacific Coast highway. Our first stop was a scenic hike in Big Sur walking aside the picturesque ocean and rocky cliffs. As we got out of the car and started down the trail, Brian spotted these really pretty rocks lining the ocean that he wanted to climb over to. While we got down to the water level, we noticed one lady on the trail who had a huge professional camera taking photos of the wildlife. Brian knows how much I love to take photos while on vacation and for the first time he climbed off the rocks and went up to the lady to ask if she could take a photo of us. She happily agreed, and as we made our way over to some nearby rocks to pose for the pictures, Brian quickly pivots to kneel down on one knee and asks if I will marry him! I of course said yes! After the magical moment, Brian had the most amazing lunch planned for us at a table surrounded by glass walls reaching over the cliff at the Post Ranch Inn. followed by a delicious wine tasting. Wow, what a day!
