In 2019, we met at an event in Houston for a friend’s dad. At the time, I was living in San Antonio, and a few girlfriends and I made the trip to Houston. All my friends arrived before me and were seated together, but since I had to work that day, I got there late and grumpy that I couldn’t sit next to them. That’s when I found an open seat next to… Joseph. There was an empty seat next to him. I sat beside him and we started chatting. He noticed I wasn’t thrilled, so he made it his mission to cheer me up. Spoiler alert: he succeeded! Before I knew it, I was laughing and thinking, “Okay, this guy is actually fun to talk to.” Of course, I didn’t let him know that....I didn’t want his ego to inflate too soon. Later, when I joined my friends on the dance floor, they asked if I already knew Joseph. I told them, “Nope, just met him a few minutes ago!” We spent the rest of the night talking and laughing. At some point, I gave him my number, I don’t even remember when we exchanged numbers, we were having so much fun. Joseph made it clear he was looking for something serious, but at the time, I wasn’t thinking about marriage. Over the next few years, we stayed in touch occasionally. Then, on his birthday in February 2024, he reached out to tell me that Google had reminded him of the photo he took the day we first met, and that he had fond memories of me. I let him know that I also enjoyed our conversation. Joseph saw his chance and wasn’t about to let me slip away again! From there, the messages started coming in more frequently. He mentioned he would be in Dallas ( I moved to Dallas in 2020) for a friend’s birthday and suggested we meet up. We did, and it felt like no time had passed at all – we just picked up right where we left off. And here we are today, ready to take the next step in our journey together, hand in hand, with full hearts, trusting that the God who brought us together will guide us through every chapter.
