Josh and Jenna were both working at West County Mall. Josh was about to become a father and Jenna was setting out on a new career path. They became friends, bonding over a television show called How I Met Your Mother. After many years of changing careers, parenthood, and a few hundred miles, they lost contact. A chance encounter with a mutual friend prompted Josh to contact Jenna. The distance and life circumstances afforded them the opportunity to rekindle the friendship that over time, evolved into something neither one of them were expecting. After nearly a year of phone calls, video chats, and extended weekend trips while pursuing their long distance relationship, they decided to take the next logical step. With a blessing that could only be obtained from six year old Sophia, the three of them started their new life together. In early 2019, after receiving Jenna’s mother’s blessing and assistance in designing a custom engagement ring, Josh set forth to plan out a surprise that Jenna would not soon forget. Having obtained props inspired by their beloved show, Josh, with the help of Sophia, proposed to Jenna on March 16. Due to COVID, the original plans for a June wedding were put on hold. With no end in sight for an opportunity to host their wedding, they proceeded with a beautiful backyard wedding at Josh’s parents house on August 15, 2020. We are excited for the chance to celebrate with family and friends at our 1 year anniversary and exchanging of our handwritten vows.
