They met in passing at Sam Houston State University while both working towards their degrees in Music Education, but only stayed in contact via social media prior to April 2020. In the midst of the COVID lockdown, their friendship continues to blossom into something more significant with the help of their matchmakers (aka instigators ;) ) Chris and Karen Cermak!
Their first date was in Huntsville, Texas at the Sam Houston Duck Pond. Will decided to make the drive from Pearland! They spent 6 hours of nonstop conversation walking around the duck pond. The spark was instant, and they both knew at that moment something beautiful was going to come from it.
Will took Cait to House of Blues Houston to watch the Houston Jazz Orchestra perform for the first time since the beginning of Lockdown. As they left the performance Will asked Cait to be his girlfriend at the water fountain next to the entrance. From there on the rest is history. Who knew it would take the world to shut down for us to find our other half.
Cait and Will spent many days building their relationship through 86 miles of distance. While Will was working as a Band Director in Fort Bend ISD, Cait was working to complete her undergraduate requirements. This created a distance to learn to navigate. This consisted of daily FaceTime calls to every other weekend Half-Way Dates in The Woodlands area. This helped them grow to be independent individuals as well as grow the foundation of their relationship strong.
After 905 days, Cait moves in preparation for her Student Teaching semester. Long Distance no more!!
Will took Cait to their favorite park, Klyde Warren Park, in Downtown Dallas, This is where they celebrated their first dating anniversary and has been a frequent favorite place to go. He prepared the proposal alongside her family and friends and popped the big question! It was an instant yes!
