As Colorado residents, we're thrilled to share our beloved mountains with our family and friends. We chose Tabernash because it holds a special place in our hearts and perfectly captures the beauty of our home state. By removing transportation time between events, Devil's Thumb provides us the opportunity to slow down the weekend and spend more quality time with our loved ones. We're so excited to share some of our favorite Colorado summer activities with you! However, we completely understand that attending our destination wedding is a significant commitment of time and resources. Please know that there's absolutely no pressure or expectation for you to make the journey. Your well-wishes, prayers, and support mean the world to us, regardless of your ability to attend.
Avoid Altitude Sickness... With Tabernash being situated at 9,000ft elevation, altitude sickness is quite common. Everyone's body reacts differently at elevation so please take all the precautions necessary to avoid altitude sickness. This is especially important for those coming from out-of-state. 1. Hydrate pro-actively and continuously: The air is much dryer at high elevations and your body will feel dehydration much quicker. Please drink more water and electrolytes than usual in the weeks leading up to and throughout the weekend. 2. Acclimate Slowly: If you fly into Denver, consider staying a night before heading to Tabernash. Denver is at an elevation of 5,280' so spending even one night at that elevation can dramatically help your body acclimate as you climb to 9,000'+. If you are traveling directly from the airport to Devil's Thumb, take it easy your first day. No strenuous hikes and plenty of rest. Your body will need time to adjust to the lower level of oxygen. 3. Limit Alcohol Upon Arrival: Please enjoy, just take your time as alcohol effects you differently at altitude. Take it slow and have plenty of water between hard beverages. Don't get caught without... 1. Sunscreen: Being at higher elevation, you are closer to the sun and sunburns occur far easier here. Colorado has 300 days a year of sunny conditions, just because temperatures are lower than if you were sitting on the beach, you are still taking in the rays. The sun is intense so please protect yourself! 2. Chapstick & Lotion: Colorado is dry. Your lips and skin will thank you. 3. Bottle for water: Travel + Altitude + Outdoor Activities + Sun = dehydration. Tap water is safe to drink so fill up those reusable bottles frequently. 4. Jacket or shawl: When the sun goes down it gets chilly, no matter the time of year. 5. Appropriate Shoes: Shoes that provide arch and ankle support are best when you're going to be on uneven ground and on your feet a lot.
We'd love for our guests to join us in Summer Formal attire. For this time of year in Colorado, may we suggest the following: Women: Colorful mid-length to floor-length dresses, or formal cocktail dresses. Please bring a jacket or shawl for the evening. Men: Suits in breathable fabrics. Colorful ties and pocket squares are encouraged! We can't wait to celebrate with you in style! When choosing your footwear, remember it is a high mountain ranch, and the grass and ground may be uneven at times.
No. While we love your little ones, we kindly request only the children in the wedding party attend.
If your invitation was addressed to you and a guest, you are welcome to bring a date.
