Oscar Store

The original Oscar Store was built in 1934 and run by Rudy and Grace Schiller. Today, Oscar Store is a country-style restaurant offering classic plates including chicken fried steak, burgers, fried catfish and more. Oscar, which was also known as Jones Gin, is on Little Elm Creek and Farm Road 3117 six miles east of Temple in eastern Bell County. It was founded by Czechs in the late nineteenth century and had a post office from 1892 to 1904. In 1896 Oscar reported a population of 115, a cotton gin, a hotel, a general store, a blacksmith, and a barber.

The Hub

The Hub opened its door in November of 2016. Located in the historic heart of downtown Temple, The Hub is over 10,000 square feet of brick walls, stamped tin ceilings, columns and wood and concrete floors. Originally a harness shop, the building was constructed at the turn of the century and is joined by historic buildings on each side. In March 2019, The Hub received a historical building marker from The City of Temple. The Hub offers more than 30 unique shops under one roof.
