It all started with a little help from Ally’s twin brother, a reluctant swipe, and… Ally’s mom. At 23, Ally was gently persuaded (read: borderline forced) by her twin brother, Brandon, to try online dating after he successfully found love there. She downloaded Bumble, swiped a bit, then decided it wasn’t for her. That was that—until her mom asked how the whole dating app thing worked. In a twist of fate (and maternal curiosity), Ally opened the app to demonstrate to her mom, and there he was: a cute, blonde, All-American guy named, "John". Ally’s mom took one look and said, “He looks wholesome. Swipe right.” So she did. Fast forward a few dates later and Ally’s dad invited John out on their family boat. John was doing 360s on a kneeboard in front of Ally’s entire family, and then he somehow found himself invited on their California road trip. Ally was hesitant—it had only been a few dates! But John charmed everyone with his sense of humor and thrill-seeking spirit (rollercoasters included), and by the end of that trip, Ally was officially his girlfriend. A few months later, Ally experienced her first white Christmas with John’s family in Minnesota, who welcomed her with open arms. It was a moment of warmth and togetherness that sealed the deal—Ally knew she had found not only the love of her life but a second family who made her feel right at home. A couple of years (and countless adventures) later, Ally started med school in Missouri while John stayed in Arizona. Long distance isn’t for the faint of heart, but it made their bond even stronger. When Ally matched for residency back in Arizona, they were finally reunited. From boat rides to med school marathons, road trips to rollercoasters, their love story has been anything but ordinary. And now they can’t wait to start the next chapter—together.
