Our story began in 2011 as we both entered our first year of architecture school at Southern Polytechnic State University. We met at a summer workshop where we quickly became friends and eventually started dating. We spent the next 5 years learning about architecture and each other, developing our design skills and relationship skills, supporting each other through challenging reviews and celebrating each other's achievements. Ultimately we both graduated with Bachelors of Architecture degrees in May, 2016. A year after graduation, we moved into an apartment in Lindbergh. Where architecture school taught us how to be uncompromising in our design, planning our living space together taught us how to revise and edit our visions to accommodate each other's. Michael allowed Amanda to build the couch and Amanda allowed Michael to bottom justify all the picture frames. We lived in our apartment for about 3 years before we began looking for our first home. We found the perfect condo in Midtown, moved in November 2020 and Michael proposed soon after with the perfect engagement ring titled “city lights in peach”.
