It was the end of a long day for both Dan and Dana. Both were not local to Philadelphia but both just so happened to be in the same city at the same time, with a mutual connection. Tina Miller. Dan’s older sister and Dana’s work wife. He had attended CRC's to enjoy watching some college rugby with his friends, while she had gone to a Chainsmokers concert with her college friends. Both ended up at two different bars connected by an alleyway on Chestnut Street. Dana at McGillin’s and Dan at Brü. Closing time was approaching and Dana and her friends thought to check out the bar across the alley for one final drink. Dana spots Dan across the bar, recognizing him from Tina’s Snapchats earlier in the day. A tall, handsome, bearded man is hard to miss, especially dressed head to toe in USA gear (fannypack included). And just before the lights come on, she introduces herself, asking, “Aren’t you Tina’s brother?” Tina had just left, which resulted in a selfie of Dan and Dana sent to her that night. With the help of his teammate, Dana went into work on Monday, with her future husband’s phone number. Little did Dan realize at the time, but he did in fact recognize Dana -- from his sister trying to set them up over the course of the two years Dana and Tina worked together. A first date in Hoboken, that started with meeting up in a park and ended with a few too many drinks (and maybe the bartender was right, she didn’t need the biggest stein of beer they had, resulting in her drinking two sips before closing) Six years later -- an apartment together, countless rugby games, trips, and joining of friends – Dan chose to propose in the same spot they met for their first date. Lit up by the NYC skyline, she said YES! Now starts their next chapter.
