How We Met

July 6, 2014

In the summer of 2014, Jon was working at The Roundhouse Bar on Put-In-Bay. I was there for the night with some family and friends. After seeing Jon from across the room, I decided to approach him. There was an instant connection, but after a few months we knew the timing wasn't quite right and we went our separate ways. The following summer we both ended up working on Put-In-Bay. When we saw each other again, we knew there was something special between us, and we had been brought back together for a reason. A few weeks later, Jon asked me to be his girlfriend, and we have been together ever since <3

The Proposal

June 1, 2019

It was a day filled with friends, family, and celebration. It was a day that I knew I was going to do for the longest time, but I didn't know when. I knew I wanted it to be at Put-In-Bay: a very special place for us because this is where we met, and it is one of our favorite places. It was tedious to plan because I wanted every moment to be just right. I planned for many of our closest friends to have a day trip to the island, and for our family to be staging the location. I told Burg my parents were at my grandpa's cottage and wanted us to stop over and 'visit.' After a couple cocktails to calm my nerves, and with the help from friends to haul us to the cottage on golf carts, we finally made it. It was a very nervous, but exciting moment. Burg and I were one of the last two to arrive. I took her around the side of the cottage and led her out near the water. I told her everyone was there to celebrate our love for one another, and next thing I know I'm down on one knee, and proposing to the love of my life. She said YES! We celebrated the rest of the day with our loved ones on the best island, on the best day of our lives (thus far)!
