Robbie and Christine met in Huntsville, Alabama in December of 2015. There was an instant attraction. However, Robbie had already received military orders to attend Flight School nearly 300 miles away at Fort Rucker in south Alabama in February the following year. They spent as much time as they could together over the next few months, but it was hardly enough for either. By the end of January, they had developed real feelings for each other. Neither one was looking to enter a long-distance relationship, so right before he left, Robbie asked Christine to come with him saying, "The way I see it, this will end up one of two ways: we’ll fall in love and take on the world, or, after a while you’ll decide to hit the road and walk away with a damn good story about the time you ran off with a soldier". Christine, being a lady, politely refused his offer to move to Fort Rucker as they had only known each other for a few months. February came and Robbie left for Flight School. Over the next year, they exchanged countless hand-written letters and visited each other whenever they had the chance. Finally after many months, Christine was convinced and decided to abandon most of her old life in order to move to Fort Rucker so they could be together. The next six months were full of new friends and experiences which turned into wonderful memories. Less than one year after graduating flight school, Robbie was notified that his unit would be deploying to Afghanistan in January of 2019 for what ended up being a year long journey spent apart from each other. The deployment introduced many challenges and taught many lessons, but overall it helped them grow in their faith and relationship and reach a new level of strength and commitment. Looking back, they know if they could endure that together, they can endure anything. After Afghanistan, Robbie and Christine bought their first house together in Huntsville, AL where they currently reside in love and faith together.
