Neither of us were looking. In fact, we were both perfectly content in our own little worlds- Jacob buried in law school textbooks, me just enjoying an evening out that was not supposed to have any significance. But fate has a funny way of flipping the page when you least expect it. It all started at a random birthday dinner, surrounded by people I barely knew. That's where I met Kenzie Wilson, a lively force of nature who struck up a conversation with me out of nowhere. At some point in the evening, she paused mid-conversation, narrowed her eyes, and asked, "Are you single?" I blinked, caught off guard. "Uh, yeah?" She grinned like she had just solved a case. "You have the same vibes and energy as a guy in my study group. But fair warning- he's kind of a nerd and collects a lot of comic books." I laughed. "So do I." And just like that, the universe conspired. Kenzie wasted no time. She played matchmaker, and before I knew it, I was meeting Jacob- this so-called "nerdy" guy who, much like me, had a deep love for inked panels and the stories they told. Neither of us had expected anything. But from that very first conversation, something clicked. It was like we had been written into the same storyline all along, just waiting for our arcs to intersect. What started with a casual introduction turned into hours of talking about our favorite series, going to comic shops and digging through dollar comic bins on the weekends, and realizing how much we had in common beyond comics. Before we knew it, our story had begun- completely unplanned, wonderfully unexpected, and absolutely perfect in its own way. A twist of fate? Maybe. Or maybe, like any great comic, destiny had already penciled us in from the start.
