When they met depends on who you ask! According to Matt, they had met 8 years ago... but Emily doesn't remember-oops! Emily first remembers meeting Matt when she noticed him while they were out with friends. She knew then that she wanted to get to know him better. Their friends ended up throwing a little get-together to help them meet. Matt was a bit nervous and drank a bit too much, so Emily helped him to bed and headed home. A few days later, he called her up to thank her and take her out to dinner. He showed up with a bouquet of flowers and they have been inseparable since. That was almost 4 years ago. Since then, they have moved into an apartment in Wrigleyville and added another member to their family, Cooper, their German Shepherd.

One thing you may know about Matt is that he is terrible at surprises. However, despite Emily knowing it was happening that day, he truly surprised her over and over again that night. The evening was PERFECT! Matt officially got down on one knee right in front of Wrigley Field. He had suggested they go for a walk before dinner, and with a little help from some friends, pulled off one heck of a surprise! Waiting in front of the field was a beautiful sign that read “will you marry my dad 🐾cooper”. After she shook her head yes, because she couldn't form any words, the crowd went nuts... Emily and Matt had no clue who any of the onlookers were... or so Emily thought. Waiting in the crowd were some of their closest friends who helped capture the moment. The night didn't end there! Matt kept the surprises going. From a beautifully decorated apartment, to dinner in the Hancock, the night ended in celebration with all their friends and family.
