As told by the Bride: We met performing in "Afros & Ass Whoopins" at Second City and were actually holding hands by the end of the show! But that's because it was time for our final bow. We then spent our first date at the beach! It was a perfect sunny afternoon that turned into a beautiful sunset... followed by Kevin protecting me from falling into "sand ditches" in the dark on the way to my truck, quoting Say Anything "watch out for that glass". Been Fairytalin' ever since!
As told by the Groom: I could not wait to propose once the ring was in my hands that Sunday evening... so when I woke up Monday morning, I made reservations for The Enchanted Forrest of Light @ Descanso Gardens that night! Needing to act fast, because THIS WAS HAPPENING, I devised a plan with Jay to make it a family affair. All Linzie knew was she loved lights so she knew this group date would be a hit! We hopped in the Jeep and BAM! What comes on the radio but one of our favorite Coldplay songs so we knew it was gonna be a good night... At Descanso Gardens, Jay videotaped the evening while pretending to play with his new camera device (maybe not pretending) and I got to secretly scope out the perimeter. Liz, Chloe, & Maverick were a perfect distraction for Linzie as we walked through various gardens, which made whispering proposal murmurs to Jay very easy. I decided on the codeword: "BEARDOWN" for when I would do it so they could get ready. FINALLY... it was the perfect light garden and she had no idea! It was a greatly staged photo op, I said "3-2-1 BEARDOWN!" and bent the knee. Like a good King. From there it was screams of joy, kisses, squeezes, and of course some tears. The gathered crowd cheered! After some great photos & videos, Linzie turned to me and asked... "So, how did you get Coldplay to come on the radio?". We went back the next very evening to take our time and enjoy all over again! Two days later Linzie received her acceptance into USC Law School, what a week! Did I mention we are getting married?
