Matt and Allison’s story began the way many modern love stories do—online in the summer of 2023. Allison arrived for their first date at Backshed Brewery, a little overdressed and very nervous. Matt, an easygoing kind-of fella, helped break the ice as they talked and got to know each other over drinks. By the end of the night, the date wrapped up with an awkward side hug and Matt confidently saying, “I’ll be in contact.” He obviously knew how to court this lovely lady. As they kept spending time together, things quickly began to click. They bonded over many card games, movie marathons, attended live music events, danced in the kitchen, and always shared a good laugh. It was obvious these two were meant to be. In July of 2024, Matt and Allison took a trip to Nashville. Between exploring the city and listening to live music everywhere they went, they both confessed something really important—they wanted to marry each other. (Although if you ask Allison, she had already come to that conclusion a little earlier.) In April of 2025, Matt decided it was time to make it official. Allison had surprise knee surgery the weekend Matt planned to propose. Well that didn't stop Matt. The day after Allison had knee surgery, he took her for a walk (or hobble) along Beaver Island Trail near St. Cloud State. Allison suspected a proposal might happen soon—but she was still completely surprised when Matt got down on one knee and proposed. Of course, she said yes. That future they talked about in Nashville is becoming their present right now. Matt and Allison can’t wait to celebrate with family and friends on May 16, 2026, as they begin their next chapter together as Husband & Wife.
