We met at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, in the percussion studio as we were both pursuing music majors. We played in the same ensembles and began going to the cafe for late-night dinners together until we finally made it official on October 11, 2019.

Throughout college, we went on many walks together, but our main path was across a bridge that was located behind campus. Before we moved back to Illinois to be closer to family, Spencer proposed to Elizabeth on that very bridge and asked her to marry him, and she said yes!
