The Proposal

Our journey officially started in October 2019. Mohamed flew into Seattle from Toronto for my birthday. He took me out to dinner at an elegant restaurant overlooking the harbour—with the sort of atmosphere where proposals always took place in movies. Now, I knew this was not a Hollywood film, but I couldn’t help but wonder. He had joked previously that he would propose on memorable day so he could remember the date forever—with his memory that was not a bad idea. And my birthday was perfect. Everything about the evening was spectacular. There’s something about a beautiful sunset that makes the experience complete. And canlis did not disappoint. As the 5th and last course came out, I looked closely at him but there was no change in demeanour. Aren’t men supposed to look nervous before a proposal? The night ended as it had began. And I thought perhaps we were not on the same page at the moment. So I decided to forget about it and just be present. Enjoy the time I had with him and be happy. Fast forward 2 days later, unbeknownst to me (obviously), on our way to a dinner organized by my friends and family, Mohamed wanted to take a detour, He wanted to see the pier on Elliot Bay since I raved about the beauty of the sunset. For me, this was a simple pitstop. But he remembered it so much more. This was the exact spot I spent the last 3 years talking to him on his commute home from work every day, with the sun setting behind me. This was where we built the foundation of our relationship. And as he went down on one knee, I got teary-eyed not only for sharing the past few years with this man, but the excitement of spending the rest of my life with him. I can say that was the BEST detour of my life! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Seattle!
