Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve
If you do one activity on your trip, a short walk/hike at Torrey Pines is a must. You can walk the beach or take one of the short trails along the cliffs. The north parking lot is how most people access the beach and its trails. This is why we live here!
Torrey Pines Gliderport
The Torrey Pines gliderport is a site to see, people gliding off a cliff and over the ocean. The bonus is the cafe that serves burgers as well.
Windansea Beach
This iconic beach was filmed in many a surf movie. It can be crowded on weekends but its our beach of choice. We find a quieter place to sit at end of Fern Glen street. This is where Fern Glen turns into Neptune, you will see an access path. Other beaches to check out, Marine Street Beach and La Jolla Shores.
The Cave Store
Pop your head into the cave store and you're in for a surprise. You walk down the stars into an underground cave that opens into the ocean.
La Jolla Kayak
If you are looking for an adventure there are several companies that rent kayaks in La Jolla Shores. You can kayak with the seals and the infamous leopard sharks off La Jolla Shores beach. Don't worry they are harmless.
Cove House
Casual brunch spot right in the heart of La Jolla Cove. Popular on weekends. Outdoor seating, solid food. We enjoy it on a Saturday morning.
Harry's Coffee Shop
Classic New York diner in downtown La Jolla. Its been in La Jolla since 1960 and is enjoyed by many locals and tourists.
Brick & Bell Cafe - La Jolla Shores
Nice spot for grab and go coffee and breakfast sandwiches.
Bird Rock Coffee Roasters - La Jolla
Quality small batch coffee in the heart of adorable bird rock, grab a coffee and walk down to the water.
El Pescador Fish Market
Excellent chowder and fresh fish. Bud loves their calamari steak sandwiches. Their chowder rivals the east coast's bests!
Girard Gourmet
Grab and Go for lunch. Pre made soups, salads, and sandwiches. We love their Tuna Salad. They also have excellent cookies.
The Taco Stand
If you dont mind standing in line, this is the spot for tacos. Its popular for a reason. If you are looking for other Mexican food recommendations you can venture to Pacific Beach where they have Los Dos Pedro's for burritos and Oscars Mexican Seafood for amazing fish tacos.
George's at the Cove
If you are looking for lunch and a view, this is the place!
Marisi La Jolla
New Italian restaurant that we have enjoyed with friends. Excellent homemade pasta. If you want to go, make a reservation.
Puesto La Jolla
Sit down street tacos and margaritas. Try the filet mignon taco!
Catania
Italian food with a view, on a rooftop overlooking La Jolla. Try the pizza if you go here.
Paradisaea
If you want to venture to the cute neighborhood of Bird Rock, this is a newer addition to the neighborhood. Their have a fried fish appetizer that we would go back for again and again.
Sushi Nekosan
Our favorite sushi place in La Jolla. For many years this was our Thursday night date place.
Eppig Brewing La Jolla Bierhaus
There are no lack of breweries in San Diego. This local brewery has multiple locations in San Diego, this La Jolla one is newer. We enjoy the 10:45 to Denver.
We Olive & Wine Bar
We visit WeOlive often on the weekends for the ocean view, cheese plates, and wine selection. Hidden in the back of an olive oil shop, its a spot to get away from the tourists.

For those staying a bit longer, this grocery store is your one stop shop for everything you need.
Parakeet Cafe
Coffee shop with great take away food, avocado toast and more. We go for their iced matcha lemonade.
