We are excited to celebrate our 7 year anniversary with you by making our union official in the eyes of the Lord and the Law! On March 8th, 2018 it was the last day of spring break, but the first day of the rest of our lives. We were both in grad school and out to let off some steam with our friends. It was karaoke night at Piknik in Richmond VA and while standing in line to request a song, Sarah made first contact. "What are you going to sing?" she asked the boy with the wild hair and thick beard. "Remix to Ignition" he replied to the girl with the fresh tan and purple lipstick. And so the night went on. Compliments (Sarah's rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody was her best to date), Teasing (Alex wasn't a fan of her drink choices), and outright flirting persisted the rest of the night and at the end, Sarah decided to give him her number. Too bad he copied it down incorrectly! After texting several wrong numbers, he kept his persistence up and finally found her again. We had our first date at Garnett's (FYI - world's best chicken salad sandwiches) a week later, and since then have rarely spent over 24 hours apart from each other. The connection was real and instantaneous. We moved in together after a year and a half and proceeded to weather the years through COVID19 and our dissertations together, supporting each other through some of the most difficult moments of our lives. Now we have graduated, uprooted and settled in a new city, and we are ready to kick off this next chapter. Buckle up - because this will be a party you wont forget!
