The short story is that we met the modern way — on a dating app. The longer story is that Ory asked Gabby out and she said no. Then Ory found her Instagram profile and followed her for a few months before asking Gabby out on another date. During that time, Gabby was out of town and agreed to a date when she returned to Sacramento. However, when she returned she stated that she was not interested in dating anyone and canceled the date. Time went on and Ory and Gabby were still following each other on Instagram. Gabby posted an Instagram story where she referred to herself as a “grandma” because she was people watching on Friday night instead of going to nightclubs. Ory, who is grandpa in his own way knew that he couldn’t give up just yet. So, instead of asking Gabby out on a date, he asked her to a museum as “friends.” Gabby agreed and within the first 5 minutes of the date Ory mentioned three of her favorite things: Frida Kahlo, Belize, and magical realism. Gabby had an amazing time and knew she wanted a second date — not as friends. And here we are two years later getting married.
