Fate was trying all it could to finally put us together. We had spent most of our younger years within just a few miles of each other and with the same groups of people, yet never knew each other aside from the mention of our names through friends. Only to both end up at Kansas State University at the same time and in the same animal science college, yet still we never met or saw each other. Finally we both found what we didn't know we were looking for. Through mutual friends after college, back in our small town we finally met each other and the rest is history!
After being together for four years, moving houses, and somehow accumulating 5 dogs of every size. We both knew what we wanted and who we wanted it with. We had already done the hard part of finding that special person, all that was left to do was make it official. It was Maggie's idea to take off work for our anniversary on August 2nd, and when I agreed I knew it was my perfect chance! I let her make some of the plans so there was no clues as to what I was up to. I made sure I had the ring stashed away in bag for our day off and was safe until the right moment. After going for a hike in the morning in Colorado Springs, lunch on the way back to Denver, the last stop of the day was going to the Denver Botanic Gardens. I brought in reinforcements to help with all the planning and making the timing happen perfectly. Maggie's brother and sister-in-law, JB and Kary Ann, had got there before us and set up the perfect scene. She was surprised with a beautiful sign and champagne tucked away in one of the gardens and the was no better feeling than hearing her say Yes and knowing the amazing life we are going to build together. We were finally engaged! We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you.
