The way we met was so natural. It was my (Bryttani) 22nd birthday and all my friends came to celebrate with me in Maryville. Unknown to me, Derek was joining them. (We had / have the same friend group but never crossed paths.) I was dancing and drinking, enjoying the night when he looked at me, smiled, and immediately joined me on the dance floor. I just knew he was going to be an important person in my life. Now he is my Fiancé... Crazy, isn't it. I am very outgoing and not afraid of being myself, so when he did that I just knew I was going to love this man! From then on we have been completely inseperable. Our little life is great and we can't wait to see what the future holds. Also, on our second date I asked him when he was going to propose. Who knew I could tell the future.
Our friend group goes to Colorado every year and this year was super special. On the trip, I (Bryttani) was shopping and looking for a turquoise band. I couldn't find one anywhere. On the second day of shopping, I still couldn't find one and Derek could see that I was upset. He kept saying "we will get you a ring before this trip is over." I had no faith of course because we had visited 6 shops and came out with nothing. **Some great foreshadowing, Derek** The night of the proposal, I was in our bathroom getting ready. One of my best friends (Ally) comes down and finishes helping me. When we were done, she says "Let's go shotgun." I of course was down, but completely unaware she was stalling me while he was getting ready for the big moment. After we were done, she says "the group wants to take a picture before we leave." We go inside to see everyone, but as we are walking in my other best friend (Michaela) shouts "Guys... there's a moose outside" ...... It's 6:00pm... in the pitch dark... outside... in Colorado. Did I mention I am blind when it's dark? Anyway, she rushes over and insist I go look at it. I state "I can't see it, I am going to wash my hands. I don't care about a moose I can't see." (I'M SO HARD HEADED). She continues to plea that I come and look and after about 5 minutes of dilly dallying, I finally give in to her go look at this mystical moose. There was no moose, but instead the love of my life on his knee asking me to marry him. I cried and cried and cried in joy. I said "Yes" and I was officially his Fiancé. If only I would have gone and looked at the moose sooner, Derek probably wouldn't have been freezing to death in the Colorado Winter.
