Savannah (bridesmaid and sister-in-law) had decided back in August 2019 that Kenna and Bryson would be the PERFECT match. Bryson was still dating someone else at the time, however. So Savannah slowly introduced Kenna to the Jensen family for the next four months. Even Rachel (mother of the groom and officiant) had gotten in on the mission to match up the pair. All the plans are set into motion, the Jensen's New Year's Eve party would be the location, and Savannah would just happen to bring Kenna along to the party. Savannah was so sure that Bryson and Kenna would have no idea that anything was being conspired. Savannah was convinced it would be love at first sight and the couple would fall madly in love right then and there. When in reality, Bryson and Kenna knew the game plan immediately and could feel the pressure from all sides. It my not have been love at first site between the two, but it would be a slow fall from there. Both of the persons of the soon-to-be couple weren't so sure about the other. They spent most of the night avoiding each other like the plague, among the many winks and not so subtle comments from those around them. The night ended with no New Year's kiss and each went to bed thinking that the family was crazy to think it was ever going to happen between them. Over the next couple of months Savannah brought Kenna to the all the family gatherings and even set up a weekly movie night for the three of them. They started spending more time together and Kenna was feeling the effects of Bryson's charm, comedic genius, and dashing good looks. It was through all the Marvel movies and long drives that they gradually fell in love.
Bryson and I had a free weekend open up after school had started. Bryson asked me if I wanted to have a day date to just spend time together before I got caught up in the commotion of the semester. Bryson told me he would have everything planned and that I just need to be prepared for a full day date. Bryson had secretly planned the whole day around the big days/dates/events in our early days of dating. We started the morning off with Herm’s, well we were supposed to. Bryson had taken me to Herm’s, here in Logan, in March of 2020, for a breakfast date after school had been cancelled in preparation for the COVID lock down. The morning of the proposal, I wasn’t feeling like sitting in line for a table for 1-2 hours. So we decided to just make breakfast at home that morning. After breakfast, Bryson wanted to make a pillow fort. You see, Bryson and I make pretty epic pillow forts. Our first pillow fort we made was in April of 2020, in his bedroom at home (Cedar Hills) and it was ginormous. It encompassed more than half his bedroom. The proposal pillow fort was no different, it encompassed majority of our downstairs. There were sheets and blankets everywhere! After we enjoyed our handiwork, Bryson packed us up in the car and we were off to Bear Lake. Bryson and I spent a lot of time in the car at the beginning of our relationship. We were long distance because of the pandemic and everything was closed in Utah and Idaho. Our early dates consisted of the two of us driving around town for hours on end, just talking. So Bryson took me to the lookout at the mouth of Logan Canyon over Bear Lake. We just talked and enjoyed getting out of the house for a little while. As we were coming back from Bear Lake, Bryson ordered Olive Garden take-out for dinner and we took it home to eat in the pillow fort. For my 19th birthday, Bryson had ordered Italian take-out and we ate it in the very first pillow fort we had made together. Olive Garden is pretty much the only Italian take-out in Logan so we just had to make due on the dinner for the proposal night. As you see, Bryson had snuck little pieces of our early days of dating into every second of the proposal day. And I didn't even realize that he had! I was completely oblivious!!! So I was SO shocked when after dinner, Bryson got down on one knee with a Ring Pop candy. Brad (Bryson's dad) had proposed to Rachel with a Ring Pop so Bryson had always wanted to propose the same way. Bryson's Ring Pop wasn't just any Ring Pop candy though; the Ring Pop was 3-D printed and much larger than a normal Ring Pop. As he was proposing, Bryson began to twist the top off the ring, and inside was my great-grandma Beckman's wedding ring. I had always wanted a ring that came from family and was so surprised to see my own grandmother's ring in Bryson's hands. How had he even gotten that? Bryson had snuck off a month before when we were visiting Idaho Falls and "ring shopped" in Grandma's ring collection. He was SO scared to lose the ring for the whole month before the proposal. And I said YES! Of course, I said yes.
