Our love Story

Some love stories are written quickly, while others take time to unfold. Ours took the perfect balance of both.

They first crossed paths in high school, Bryson was the kind of guy girls couldn’t help but fall for. She, on the other hand, had her head stuck in her books. The timing wasn’t right for romance, and life went on in separate directions. Fast forward to June 2020. A friend reminded Jonelle of Bryson, and on a playful whim, she sent him a message. At first, he was caught off guard, but soon their conversation flowed effortlessly, as if no time had passed. The very next day, he asked her on a date. Lunch and ice cream turned into hours of talking, laughing, and rediscovering each other. Within a week, Bryson made his intentions clear. A month later, she agreed to date, beginning their journey together. On a special trip to the beach, walking hand in hand under the stars and listening to the waves crash, they both realized they were falling in love. Since then, vacations, beach walks, and quiet moments together have become their favorite ways to connect, walking, talking, and enjoying life at their own pace. They’ve always balanced each other in the best ways. She brings the energy, the joy, the color; he brings the calm, the patience, the strength. He dreams big, she fills in the details. Together, they see the world through the same curious lens. Years ago, they jokingly called each other Yin and Yang. They share a passion for discovery together, whether exploring new cities, learning about history and architecture, or simply walking along the beach, trying to find tide pools. They’re so excited to begin their next chapter in Savannah, Georgia, exploring life hand in hand, one adventure at a time. Through challenges and triumphs, laughter and quiet moments, they’ve found in each other a love that is unwavering, grounding, and endlessly joyful. Now, surrounded by family and friends, they are ready to celebrate this next chapter — together, forever.

The Proposal

It didn’t take four years of dating for them to know they had found their forever, but being students meant taking their time with big milestones. Still, Bryson always knew he wanted to solidify his commitment, and Jonelle had long since recognized the depth of her love. Bryson already knew the vision Jonelle had for the ring, and quietly worked with a jeweler to bring it to life. Every detail, every step, he carefully planned, determined to make the moment unforgettable. Of course, Jonelle suspected something was coming. She asked questions, lots of them, and Bryson, balancing his desire for surprise with her curiosity, gave just enough hints to keep her guessing, telling her only to take a certain weekend off work. Then came Sunday, September 1st, 2024. That morning, Bryson left with a vague excuse about errands, while Jonelle, at her parents’ house, noticed his location was off. Each of them felt the anticipation: his nerves mixed with determination, hers with curiosity. Meanwhile, on the rooftop of their apartment, Bryson and Jonelle’s best friend were working against the heat to set the stage. The sun was relentless, so much so that the candles they’d planned to light started melting before they could even be placed. But they pushed through, determined to create something special. Just as everything was nearly ready, a storm unexpectedly swept in. Winds picked up, flower petals were blown everywhere, candles were snuffed out, and glass shattered. All of Bryson’s carefully laid plans were quickly unraveling under a darkening sky. Back at her parents’ home, Jonelle was finally told to get dressed, she was going out. Heart pounding, she was blindfolded and led to a car. But when the GPS announced, “until you arrive in Macon,” she ripped the blindfold off, trying to piece together what was happening. When they arrived at their apartment, Jonelle’s family told her she’d ride the rest of the way with Bryson. She met him in the lobby, expecting to head inside. But instead, he gently led her to the elevator. Upstairs, the rooftop, though not what Bryson originally envisioned, still held its magic. A few candles had survived the wind, their soft flicker dancing in the breeze. There, in the middle of it all, Bryson shared a heartfelt reflection on their journey. Through thunder rumbling and rain beginning to fall, he looked into Jonelle’s eyes and asked the question that would change everything. And of course, she said yes. The wind howled. Lightning flashed. Rain tapped around them. But in that moment, nothing else mattered. It was real, raw, imperfect, and somehow, absolutely flawless. As the news spread and people commented on the wild weather in their photos, Jonelle’s Uncle Jagdis offered a perspective they’ll never forget: > “The thunderstorm represents the noise their children will be making as they run around the house playing and screaming with joy and love. > The blowing of the flower petals, says that the beauty and love of their lives will be seen all over where they interact. > The rain represents showers of Blessings. > The breaking of the glasses and blowing out of the candles, show that they are throwing away all bad memories of the past. > And the lightening in the sky is going to brighten their future.” That night, chaotic and stormy, became more than just a proposal. It became a symbol of their journey: one that may not always go exactly as planned, but is always full of love, intention, and meaning.
