They met through church and playing soccer together in 2020. Bryce pretty quickly developed a crush on Melissa and then proceeded to not talk to her very much for the next few years (he may have been afraid to talk to her). Melissa started liking Bryce a couple years later after they started to hang out around each other more, and maybe when he started growing a beard. Bryce eventually started talking to Melissa more and they continued to grow in their friendship. Then, Bryce texted Melissa “to talk” after church the next day, and ended up asking her out on September 25, 2022. She couldn’t say ‘yes’ any faster. They started dating, and went on several road trips to meet both families right after that, so you could say they really liked road trips—or that they were pretty committed. It was on a Christmas road-trip to New Mexico in December 2022 that Melissa knew she wanted to marry Bryce, and it was on a California road-trip in January 2023 when they were dancing to ‘Come on Eileen’ at an 80’s night that Bryce knew he wanted to marry Melissa. After finding the perfect ring, Bryce proposed on a Valentine’s picnic date on February 17, 2024 at The Farm at South Mountain. The way he did it was by filling in a scrapbook that Melissa had made for Bryce for Valentine’s Day the previous year. Bryce gave the scrapbook to Melissa on the picnic and waited for her to get to the last page which said “The day we got engaged” with the perfect amount of space for a photo to complete the page. After that, Bryce helped Melissa up to her feet (they were in their socks), walked to an altar nearby their picnic, said “I love you” and a few other things, and Bryce proposed. The ground was wet, Bryce was nervous, Melissa kind of saw it coming, and it was perfect. Now they’re getting married and are so excited to have their family and friends celebrate with them.
