How We Met

Milwaukee to Menomonie to Minneapolis

2014 McKenna met Bryce in the fall, during a visit to Milwaukee. He loved her dad's homemade pickles, and the rest was history. Just kidding! 2016 McKenna was in Milwaukee again- this time for Summerfest music festival. She had plans to hang out with a few girl friends there so she hopped in the car and started the 2 hour drive. She was getting close to Milwaukee, and had yet to get an address from her friend. Bryce knew she was visiting, and invited her over to pregame with his roommates, so she did. They went to Summerfest together and drank and danced the night away at the X Ambassadors concert. They took a silly snapchat video together and learned that it was national kissing day when a filter with two weiner dogs booping noses showed up at the bottom of the screen. They looked up at each other and shared their first kiss. AWW. They spent the rest of the summer driving back and forth between Milwaukee and Bancroft- exploring, touring breweries, and golfing. 2017 They started the year with a 3 week road trip to Colorado, Utah, and Arizona & spent the summer living in Dallas. Bryce joined McKenna at UW-Stout for her final semester. And she moved to Minneapolis after graduation to start her Interior Design career. 2018 The highlight of the year was their first international trip together- Bryce planned an incredible adventure through Guatemala and Mexico. 2019 More Mexico. Bryce graduated & moved to Minneapolis! Started underwriting for United Health. Concerts. Couchsurfing. Canoeing. Visited Colorado & fell in love with climbing! 2020 Kicked off the year in colorful Colombia. Camping, more of Minnesota. We visited Salt Lake City & told friends we would "probably move out in the next two or three years". More camping, Colorado. HE PROPOSED. And we moved to Utah.

The Proposal

10.9.2020

There is nothing better than Colorado in the fall, so we planned a long weekend trip to visit our friends Nicole and Jake in October 2020. Though the trip was planned a few months in advance, it happened to be the weekend before our sooner-than-expected move to Utah. When they summitted their sunset hike, Nicole asked if McKenna and Bryce wanted photos together, and of course they said yes. Nicole started snapping away. McKenna could feel Bryce fidgeting to her left, and when she turned to see what was going on, he dropped to one knee. Her hands flew to her face instantly and she said "NO WAY" over & over (in the best way, so surprised) as Bryce said some very sweet things & slid the ring on her finger. Woo hoo!! Engaged!! Their friend Jake had kindly lugged champagne up the challenging hike, hidden in his backpack. So they popped that, retrieved the cork (leave no trace) and took a few more photos to commemorate one of the most wonderful days of their lives. McKenna had NO idea at all. Bryce pulled off an incredible surprise & they spent the weekend in Colorado celebrating. When they got home from CO, they immediately loaded up the car for Utah. A fabulous, eventful week to say the least!
