We met through mutual friends when Bryce first asked for my phone number—only to “lose” it. A few weeks later, he asked for it again and finally sent a text. When a random Richmond number popped up on my phone with nothing but the word “Grace,” I immediately texted my aunt to ask who she'd given my number to! Of course, I replied. The next day, Bryce showed up at the beach with Banks, and we’ve been inseparable ever since.
It was the Saturday morning of Memorial Day weekend. Bryce wanted to get an early start and take the dogs to the beach to wear them out before the crowds arrived. We spent about 45 minutes tossing the ball and letting them run around, and I started getting a little antsy—wondering why we hadn’t gone back to grab our beach stuff yet. As I was throwing the ball for the boys, Bryce started to walk away. Then I heard him say, “Gracie, turn around.” I did—and there he was, down on one knee with a ring in his hand, asking me to marry him. Afterward, we went back to my Nannie’s house, where our families were waiting to celebrate with champagne and brunch. The rest of the weekend was spent soaking it all in with our closest friends and family. It was truly one of the best weekends of our lives.
