It was the summer of 2020. The world was in a very weird, very dark place. Luckily for the two of us, we had tacos. More specifically, amidst all the chaos, quarantining, and social distancing, one Cameron Kroetz decided to host Taco Tuesdays for a small group of current and former Montana State University Housing folks. As Em was his roommate at the time and Bryce was his former boss, they both ended up with an invite. Over the course of the next several Taco Tuesdays, Bryce somehow *cough* very intentionally *cough* kept finding himself sitting next to Em. Fast forward through a multitude of charming conversations, witty quips, a few potent margaritas, and one slightly awkward hike and, unbeknownst to us, the rest of the Taco Tuesday gang started taking bets on when we would start dating. Then, one fateful June Tuesday, it finally happened. For our first official date, what was supposed to be a short walk to get ice cream turned into hours of talking - about everything from traveling and wildlife to crazy Housing stories and the intricacies of Costco's business model. Eventually, we wound up at Bryce's apartment, watching a thunderstorm roll in and continuing to chat. After several more dates, consisting of hikes, rollerblading, board games, and only one broken wrist, we knew we were in this for the long haul. Five years later, Bryce was on a month-long volunteer trip to Belize assisting with a jaguar conservation project. A week in, he had an epiphany. Despite the crazy locale, the amazing wildlife, and the dream project, he couldn't wait to get back home to Em. Although we had previously discussed waiting until after he finished grad school to get married, he decided then that there would never be a better time than now. After returning stateside, he set up an "impromptu" trip back to Bozeman, where they first met, to visit their friend (and now, Best Man), Brianna Vlach. They all planned to go on a hike at the very same spot Bryce and Em had their first awkward hike together. At the last minute, Bri pretended to bail and Bryce and Em started the hike on their own. After reaching the top of the mountain and waiting for what felt like hours for a winded mountain biker to move along, Bryce dropped to one knee and proposed. Bri popped out of a bush, camera in hand, a moment later and the three of them headed down the mountain to join up with their parents and celebrate. Looking forward to the future, Em and Bryce are excited to continue to explore their passions and the world with each other and their cats, Milo and Virgil. Bryce is currently preparing to start his tenure at the University of Washington where he will be pursuing a Masters of Marine Affairs, while Em continues to thrive in her career as a non-profit accountant. We are both so excited to see you at our wedding. Whether we've known you our whole lives or just the past couple years, thank you for being a part of our story.
