1000 Miles to You

We were living nearly identical lives about a thousand miles apart — same timing, same heartbreak, same “how did everything end up here?” season — without ever knowing the other existed. Then TikTok stepped in. Yes… TikTok. More specifically, a TikTok ASMR group chat. Devin was in the group cracking jokes, and Bryanna — with her unmistakable blue and black hair — kept laughing at everything he said. Eventually, the jokes turned into conversation, and the conversation turned into messages. Devin’s first thought? There’s no way she’s real. This has to be a catfish. She was, in fact, very real. As they talked, something strange started happening. Their lives lined up almost perfectly. They had been married around the same amount of time, married close together, and were going through divorces at the exact same moment. Life wasn’t just difficult — it felt like it was falling apart in stereo. They talked for months. Real conversations and late nights. The kind of talks where you stop pretending and start telling the truth about everything. By June of 2022, Devin’s world had reached a breaking point. His back surgery had fallen through, his marriage was over, and the place he was living no longer felt like home. So he made a decision that felt scary — but also right — and bought a plane ticket. Bryanna, meanwhile, had just moved into a new house and was standing in her own season of uncertainty, never imagining that someone was about to walk into her life and change everything. When they finally met in person, it wasn’t dramatic or awkward or rushed. It was easy. It felt familiar. Safe. Like something that had been quietly lining itself up long before either of them realized. From that moment on, choosing each other felt natural — and it’s been that way ever since.
