We first met at a Japanese class at Yale University in the Spring semester of 2017. One day the two of us were assigned to write a skit together for a homework assignment. As the two of us sat in the library pondering over how to subvert a traditional Japanese fairy tale about a man saving a turtle, neither of us had any idea that the person sitting across from the other would one day become the most important person in their life. After the semester concluded, we were both awarded the Light fellowship to study Japanese for a year in Yokohama, Japan. Though we were just classmates at Yale, during our time in Japan we instantly bonded, and after a few months of dating decided to take the plunge and move in together. Since then we have been inseparable, and have lived and studied together in many different places, including the U.S., Taiwan, Japan, Guatemala, and now Europe. While the constant travel and change has posed challenges, the two of us have always been able to find joy together in any situation. Not a day goes by where we are not laughing at some stupid inside joke or thinking of some crazy new nickname to call each other. We love exploring the streets of a new city in search of delicious food, as well going off the beaten path to hike mountains and trails. And with each passing adventure our bond grows stronger. After returning to the US, we plan on starting a family, so that we can share the love we have and see it multiply. We invite all of you to be a part of that family, and to join us step-by-step as we continue our adventure.
