Spurred by our passionate love for one another and determination amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, we escaped to the wild Alaskan landscape to proceed forward with our union as a couple. Feeling defeated after having to postpone our wedding, we knew it was the right thing to do to seize the moment and act upon our hearts' desire to become one. We were married on the top of a mountain, next to a crystal blue lake in the southwest part of the Talkeetna Mountains in a place called Hatcher Pass. Surrounded by rugged terrain spotted with both snow and greenery, we exchanged our vows and rings. As we stood upon the mountain overlooking the beautiful mountain pass, our eyes stayed fixed upon one another. Despite the beauty of the surroundings, nothing compared to the companion we now had the blessing of calling spouse. The adventure into our new chapter began as we travelled via helicopter to an overhanging portion of the Knik glacier high in the mountains. On the expansive sheet of ice covered with snow, we landed on the outskirts of a small dog camp where they train and condition dogs for the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Not only did we have the opportunity to experience dog sledding, but we also got to hold and cuddle young puppies. We said goodbye to the puppies and took off from the higher glacier ridge and began our decent to the lower glacier. The helicopter landed on a flat portion of the glacier next to a blue melt stream running off the glacier. The landscape was breathtaking - containing visuals of frightfully deep crevasses and the sounds of the peaceful trickle of bright blue water from accumulating ice melt. The warmth from the sun and the cold from the glacier mixed to create a refreshing and comfortable environment. Here we set up a small picnic area to cut our cake and pop some champagne. With the day coming to an end, we embarked back to reality with a new sense of fullness in our hearts and memories to carry with us for a lifetime. Let's celebrate!
