Thank you all for sticking with us through this. We have our third, and final, wedding date set. We hope to see you there. This website should answer all of your questions about what to expect before, during, and after the wedding.
We are excited to tell you that we are married! We very much wanted to marry on the same day as our wedding, but we weren't marrying each other to have a party! With all the chaos in the world, this was so simple for us. Here's our story: After canceling our April 18th wedding, we decided to marry with family on April 25th, the day we first met. The night of April 5th though, the Air National Guard activated Bryan and he was told he had 72 hours to report to his base. He would be stationed at a testing site and living in a hotel with his fellow guardsmen. We discussed so many scenarios on how to make the 25th work. It was such a scary time though. There were so many "what ifs". And in that regard, the significance of the 25th slipped away. It was simple, we wanted to be married. It truly was a beautiful moment. We called Lexy's sister Samantha, who had been ordained, and asked her if she could marry us that night. After work, we got dressed up, bought a four-pack of silicone rings at Walmart, made a bouquet in the Stop & Shop parking lot, and met in Samantha's community tennis court with her husband Mike as our witness. We stood six feet apart, said "I do", blew each other kisses...then got burritos to-go and went to Bryan's parents to tell them the news in person and to get a quick photo together. Bryan left the next morning. Lexy moved into our new apartment on April 15th and Bryan finally on August 10th when his duty was over. On August 13th, we scheduled a Convalidation Ceremony with Father Peter for August 16th, who was retiring the following weekend. We ran to the mall to buy a suit, a dress, rings...yes, it was as crazy as it sounds, lol. Do we feel married? Not really yet. Bryan's only been home for a month and our ceremonies were pretty anti-climatic. It doesn't change how happy we are together though! We think it will feel more "real" when we get into our tuxedo/dress and say our vows to each other in front of all our friends and family. CAN'T WAIT!!!
We met at Nag's Head in Huntington Village. Bryan, fresh off a boring date. Lexy, waiting for a friend with a new business idea. While hanging out at the bar, Lexy ordered wings and tried to eat them with a fork and knife. Given the quality of the wings, it was hopeless, and that broke the ice. They talked about the best pizza they'd ever had at Di Fara's in Brooklyn! Bryan skiing in Chile in the summer, one of Lexy's dreams. Learning both of us attended Northport High School and that Bryan now teaches there. Lexy living in New York City for ten years and Bryan teaching the "Cities" class, and all the things they loved about NYC. They talked about all the concerts they'd been to, one which they both were at! And finally, how much Lexy wanted to move to California and how much she disliked living on Long Island. Bryan, being the expert that he is, felt there was so much he could show and teach her about Long Island that she would love. Two weeks later, they went on their first date at Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve in Lloyd Neck. Luckily, Bryan's a great teacher and salesman, because he got her to stay for at least another twenty plus years!
