"I've got to admit--our story is rather unconventional. In the summer of 2022, I decided to do something different in my romantic life and try dating apps. I didn't have super high hopes, but I wanted to trust God enough to give it a shot. Not long into the venture, I matched with Bryan. We chatted briefly digitally, but soon afterward I noticed a deep fear rise to the surface. I knew then I wasn't emotionally healthy enough to date yet, so I kindly communicated with Bryan, and we parted ways while I got help and healing. Fast forward about a year--the summer of 2023. I'd just walked through nine months of deep, hard healing and emotional work. Dating was actually still pretty far off the radar as I started pouring my focus into singleness initiatives at church. That is, until one day I sensed the Lord nudge me that it was time to try dating again. So, I joined a dating app again. And (you guessed it)--Bryan and I matched a second time! From the first date, I knew something was different. I admired his maturity, his question-asking ability, and his goofy personality. But most of all, I knew he loved Jesus, and that was evident as we got to know each other more and more. And the more of him I got to know, the more I couldn't shake it: God's hand was in our relationship. Our dating journey hasn't always been easy--mostly thanks to my silly brain and keeping old unhealthy thought patterns at bay--but Bryan has been steady, kind, and full of grace the whole way through. Oh, and he's probably the funniest person I've ever met--which for me is a tall order! I mean what other couple do you know who would chest bump immediately after getting engaged?
