Told from the perspective of the Bride! For months, almost a year, actually, a Mutual Friend of ours was trying to get us connected. Always saying we have something in common, we would get along really well, things like that. I, The Bride, was saying no and obviously he, The Groom, was saying no, UNTIL…… I was invited to a friends birthday party and our Mutual Friend snapped a photo of me because I, the Bride, was looking BOMB!!!! I guess when he saw the photo his, “No.” turned into a, “Why not?😆” Well, Mutual Friend told me he was going to call, but he didn’t right away, so I forgot all about it. He finally called on a Monday evening around 6pm. (I don’t know why I remember it so vividly) Right when I got home from work. I usually don’t answer unknown numbers, but my girls told me to answer it. “Hello, this is Bryan Torry.” I was so rude. I got defensive, because I didn’t know who this strange man was calling me. “Mutual Friend gave me your number to call you.” I was still being rude. My girls are in the background explaining to me, who he is. When I finally realize who The Groom was my tone changed. I apologized for being so harsh and crass towards him and he asked me out. I was shocked because I was sooooooo gross with my attitude! 😂 I asked him to give me an hour! He gave me some push back. I told him I just got off work and I needed to get ready. “I’m just wearing a pullover and some shorts.” I say okay and begin to get ready. Fast forward an hour. I’m looking BOMB! Again!!! Black sweater, skinny jeans, bomber jacket, booties, all topped with my Pittsburgh Stealers SnapBack because the meet was at a sports bar! I get my girls stamp of approval and I’m off! Get to the spot and I see a dude with some old New Balance shoes, basketball shorts and a hoodie. OMG!!! Seriously? Obviously our idea of shorts and a pullover were completely different. And guess what? It was The Groom. I would’ve left but his eyes reeled me in. Not to mention he was such a gentleman!!! We sat and he stared…………for a long time! I was perplexed and then said, “you’re staring at me like you have a question but you’re not saying anything.” He says, “I’m just shocked you look like your picture!” And then we talked for almost three hours. Laughed, joked, found out we had a lot in common and, I know he eyed me when I walked away to go to the restroom. I knew he liked me when we planned the second date before the check came. Like I said, he was such a gentleman. Paid for the date, opened doors, even walked me too my car. You could not tell me that we weren’t having a great time……. Until he came in for the hug…………. He gave me a church mothers hug, y’all!!! Non-pelvic, chest barely touching! We could’ve just given each other a handshake with what little contact happened during that hug. But the hug worked because despite my doubts, I called him the next day. And the rest has been history in the making!!! ❤️❤️❤️
