Flight

Sibiu

The nearest airport is Sibiu, 1h drive from Medias or 1h30 by train. The city of Sibiu is the capital of the Sibiu province, which also includes Medias, and is definitely worth a visit. Unfortunately, at the moment there are no direct flights from Belgium to Sibiu. It is only possible with transfers, for example with Lufthansa via Munich. Therefore, the trip takes a bit longer and is also more expensive of course, but it is certainly possible.

Cluj Napoca

The second closest airport is Cluj-Napoca, a 2h30 drive from Medias or 3h15 by train. The city of Cluj-Napoca is the capital of the region of Transylvania, which also includes Medias, and is certainly worth visiting. There are direct flights available from Charleroi to Cluj-Napoca, i.e. with Ryanair or Wizzair: both low-cost airlines, but Ryanair is more likely to have strikes than Wizzair. If you prefer to fly from Brussels Zaventem to Cluj-Napoca, we recommend HiSky, also a low cost airline, but a little more expensive than Ryanair and Wizzair.

Flight

Bucharest

Of course there is also an airport (Henri Coanda) in the Romanian capital Bucharest and there are many direct flights from Belgium. Low cost airlines that fly directly to Bucharest are Wizzair and Ryanair (from Charleroi airport) and HiSky (from Brussels Zaventem). The downside is that Bucharest is far from Medias, more or less 5h by car or 6h30 by train. Therefore it is not ideal to fly back and forth to Bucharest for the wedding, because you will lose half a day to travel from Bucharest to Medias and vice versa. However, flying to or from Bucharest can be an option if you want to travel and visit some places in Romania before or after the wedding. For example: you fly to Cluj-Napoca, come to Medias for the wedding, then visit some cool places between Medias and Bucharest and eventually fly back home from Bucharest.

Taxi

Medias is a small city and the easiest way to get around town is by taxi. You can order a taxi by calling 0040 269 959 or 0040 269 965. FYI: taxi rides around Medias will cost you on average 20 lei (RON), which is €4. Note that you cannot pay by card in the taxi's in Medias, so make sure you always carry some cash (lei/RON) while travelling. In Cluj-Napoca or Bucharest we recommend you catch an uber, as they are cheap and come quick.

Mercure Medias Binderbubi Hotel And Spa

The wedding party will take place in the ballroom of the Mercure Hotel Binderbubi in Medias. It is possible to book your accommodation here, but of course there are also other hotels in Medias (see short list bellow). If you want to stay at Binderbubi, you can book your room via booking.com or via the Accor/Mercure website. Since we are hosting the wedding party here, we have a special deal for our guests, which is €70/night for a double room or €65/night for a single room (both deals include breakfast & pool access).
