After getting back in the world of dating a friend told me to put myself out there. We both thought Kyle was cute and sounded like a normal guy. I liked something on his profile and then almost immediately I got a message from Kyle that said "Hmmmm I don't know how to feel about a Sooner lol". We talked for a few days and then set a date to get drinks on Friday. Me being the excited anxious type, I texted him one day coming home from teaching summer school and asked if he wanted to meet tonight instead. He agreed and an hour later were meeting at Los Cucos. I was at the hostess stand getting a table and he walked up behind me and I looked up and saw him and lost all sense of the English language. All I could muster was "oh hi". The hostess walked us to the table and we both immediately order margaritas and queso (this is love at first order if you ask me, haha). Hours past and we realized they were closing. Looking back this was such a foundation to how our life together would be and I am forever grateful for that back corner booth. After our first date, I told my mom that I was in love and would marry Kyle one day...looks like I was right.
They say it happens when you least expect it, and that it 100% did. As some of you may know, the dating scene now days is quite awful, and I was at the online dating part and it was absolutely miserable. I had gone on a few dates and it’s absolutely amazing how good the internet can make people appear, so I was at the point of giving up when a Sooner messaged me. So of course I had to make a joke and the conversation just flowed. Before I knew it we were both too excited to wait for our date on Friday so we decided to go for dinner to Los Cucos on Thursday night. As I was walking to the restaurant I saw her and I couldn’t help but smile, as Grandma calls it, I had a shit eating grin. I saw her beautiful strawberry blonde hair and my heart raced as I didn’t know what to say as we walked towards the restaurant. She went inside first and as she was asking for a table I said hello and she turned around with a sheepish hi and at that moment I knew I was done when I looked into those pretty blue eyes. The night was amazing as we laughed and enjoyed some queso and margs, until she had to go to the bathroom for a very long time, at which I was slightly concerned, even though she left her purse. So I decided I’d go to the bathroom and of course there she was talking to a worried mom whose daughter was starting school soon. I just shook my head with a smile and kept on walking. The rest of the night went amazing as we ended the night with a kiss and I went home more excited than ever, the rest is history.
On our two year anniversary, Kyle asked if I wanted to go to Morton's to celebrate. We made reservations and plans to go to my parents to get pictures taken as we had done many times before when we were all dressed up. Little did I know that this wouldn't be the whole plan for the evening. As we arrived to my parents house we went to the back yard and began taking pictures. I looked over Kyle's shoulder and saw his family coming out of the side door. I was shocked and it hadn't really clicked with me yet that there was something else going on. When everyone was outside and Kyle began talking, I finally realized what was happening. As Kyle got on one knee and asked me to marry him all I could do was nod and smile. I finally squealed yes, the champagne was popped, and a the celebration began. Kyle had a whole plan for a big family dinner of all of my favorite things. It was the happiest day of my life and I can't wait to spend forever with you, Kyle William.
