We met on a dating app called “Coffee Meets Bagel,” the classier of the dating apps. We agreed to go out to Kona Grill for wine down Wednesday and of course the date we picked it was basically a blizzard. It was like a romance story; we just clicked! Multiple wine bottles were consumed and the restaurant literally closed around us. Felt like we were both life partners already.
We went to my favorite spot on the water called One Willow. It was a beautiful, sunny day and was located just 2 miles from Sandy Hook. Peter was adamant about going there after for a stroll but all plans were derailed when the cops shut down the highway and were not allowing anyone else in. Plan B was now in motion where we went to another waterfront destination for drinks. Unknowingly ruining his plans, I ordered a tower of beer just for us two which would take quite some time to consume. Peter now had to divert to plan c… which was non-existent. We ended up taking a walk by the water and sitting on a bench when he asked “how would you feel celebrating our engagement this Tuesday?” I was extremely confused since we were heading to Italy later that week and was convinced we would be getting engaged there. He repeated himself emphasizing the upcoming Tuesday, pulled out the ring and asked if I would marry him. I had such an ugly cry to the point where people thought we were breaking up. Peter than asked… “so is that a yes?” And I said “yes!” He had planned a whole engagement party with both our families that Tuesday right before we left for Italy.
