Our mutual friends set us up as partners to carve pumpkins at their fall party/ bonfire. We went on a group date with those same friends later that year and after dinner and bowling, sat in Bruce's truck for more than an hour talking. We saw each other for a few dates through December and January. It was killing our friends and family that we weren't "officially" dating by late January, so they decided to make us little notes for each other asking if we would be each others' boyfriend/girlfriend to give us a "little push" (it was sweet, really!) ... as they say, it was all down hill from there!
We traveled with the same friends that set us up to Gettysburg where we all rented a beautiful old house for the weekend. We all enjoyed a relaxing, fun weekend. (This is the part were we tell you that the guys knew the proposal plans but the girls did not...) On Saturday, we started our morning touring the battlefields and cemetery, continuing to the surrounding shops in town before lunch. After lunch we started our driving tour of the rest of the battlefields and I volunteered to switch cars, unknowingly messing up the plan! Poor Bruce went the whole day nervously carrying his grandmother's ring around the battlefields in his pocket. And the other two guys spent the whole day ready to pull their phones out at any moment to record it. Because he wanted all of our friends to be present for the proposal, and the other girls had been staying in the cars at some of our stops while their kids took naps, Bruce waited until we had gone back to our rental house, had finished dinner, and were relaxing and chatting. He got up from the table and down on one knee so quickly, for a split second, I thought he had gotten his foot stuck on the table leg and was falling to the floor! (LOL) I was so caught off-guard that I asked him if he was serious, before bursting into tears and squeaking out a "yes". Getting to celebrate immediately with the friends that are the reason we met was so much fun! We are looking forward to celebrating the start of our next chapter with you as well!
