Jacob and Emily met at the UT Dallas Baptist Student Ministry in August 2022. When Emily first came to the BSM, Jacob overheard her mention something about a role-playing game to someone else, and he quickly inserted himself into the conversation. Over the next several weeks, people kept pointing them to each other since they were in the same degree program: Animation and Games. They both enjoyed talking about nerdy things at the BSM over the following months. In November, Jacob decided to ask Emily for her phone number, saying, “I want to get to know you better.” Emily was clueless and thought he just wanted to talk more about animation and nerdy things. They got together for lunch at Dilla’s (which they now call their pre-date). The next week, Jacob invited Emily to the National Video Game Museum. As they were walking in, he asked her, “So, do you want this to be a date or a casual hangout?” It became a date — and the rest became history! Almost three years of weekly dates later, they are excited for this next step in their journey!
