Katelyn and Spencer met at the beginning of the Fall 2023 semester at the University of Michigan. As music majors studying voice, they had to do what is called an "opera hearing", which is basically a beginning-of-semester audition for the voice faculty where they give the students feedback on their operatic skills. When Katelyn walked in backstage, she saw Spencer waiting for his turn to sing. She couldn't help but compliment Spencer's dapper, dark green suit. In return, Spencer couldn't help but compliment Katelyn's long hair. That was the only interaction between the two of them for a while; they passed each other in the hall maybe only a couple of times for the rest of the semester. It wasn't until the two reconnected over a game of chess (and liquid courage) at a Super Bowl party the next February that their relationship began to blossom. After many weeks of dates, trying the new crumbl cookie flavors of each week, and walks around the mall (they both may or may not have shopping addictions), Spencer picked a dandelion out of the ground one day and gave it to Katelyn, asking her to be his girlfriend. In March of 2025, Spencer took Katelyn to their favorite park and proposed to her on a bridge over the river during the golden hours of the afternoon. Funny that a soprano and a tenor ended up together, right? They love to travel, try new restaurants, explore different cities, and much more. They most enjoy the mundane times: sitting on the couch, grocery shopping, or even going to the DMV. Being together makes everything about life more special. They are so thrilled to share their lives and celebrate this special day filled with love, family, and friends!
