How we met

What's more original than marrying the girl next door? ;)

It was March 2020. COVID just shut down the entire world, including the apartment pool. Everyone knows March in NC has the ability to be nice & warm. And of course, being a girl from Michigan, I couldn't not be outside enjoying the sun. One day, I decided to lay out by the grills on the other side of my apartment building. For reference, my apartment looked out the front and his looked out the side so we truly had no reason to bump into each other. Like I was saying, that one day in March, I was laying out by the grills studying for an upcoming exam in PA school. He was coming home from working as a PA in the ICU. His exact words later on were "I wanted to talk to the dog you were hanging out with," because, yes I had a super cute dog named Bowie hanging out with me that just so happened to be Blake's neighbor as well. We got to talking and we both realized we were PA's (him actually and me in the making) and both went to High Point University. We continued talking until I invited him up to my apartment to meet my cat, Roger (which, yes, was truly the only reason and if you know me, you know how important he is to me). Well, Blake thought I was on the show "Girls Who Kill" and always stood between me & the door while barely setting foot into my apartment. He offered some help with getting through didactic (since he just went through it) and gave me his email. Not his phone number, but his email (LOL). I finally offered my phone number & we began talking. He tried to ask me out on multiple dates, in which I repeatedly responded "no." I had bigger fish to fry....like making it through PA school and landing my dream job in the Neonatal ICU. Eventually, he gave up the date idea and offered to make me dinner with some wine at his apartment. Now, if you know me, you know ya girl is not a cook (and was used to eating girl dinners of yogurt, cans of corn and/or black beans, or Panera). I said yes & realized how incredible his cooking was. I finally said yes to being his girlfriend (after didactic was done) & I guess I just never quit saying yes as ~5 years later, here we are doing the damn thing! I wouldn't want to do this life with anyone else :)
