Encino Park is a 30 minute walk from Valley Beth Shalom/Courtyard Marriott and is a straight shot down Ventura Blvd. A great option for our shomer shabbat friends and family to picnic, hang out in the shade and spend a relaxing shabbat outside!
Oxnard Beach is a 20-25 minute drive from the wedding venue. The park is located along the Pacific Coast Bicycle Route and offers a beachside bike/jogging path. In addition to the Park's great location there are plenty of restaurants and attractions at the nearby Channel Islands Harbor. Parking available.
A 10 minute drive or a 1 hour walk from the Courtyard Marriott, Lake Balboa Park has many picnic areas, a lakeside walkway with benches, boat rides out on the lake and animal watching (mostly ducks), as well as a Japanese Garden. Reservations for the Japanese Garden can be make up to 10 days in advanced online.
Called the "Butt Burner" by the Brown Family, this uphill hike is a 5 minute drive/15 minute uphill walk from the Brown's home in Tarzana. If you need to stretch your legs before your flight and want a beautiful view of the valley, this is the hike for you!
One of Emily's favorite places in Los Angeles, the Getty Villa, located in the Pacific Palisades near the beach, is a re-created Roman country home that houses Greek and Roman antiquities. Spend a morning or afternoon strolling through the beautiful gardens and wrap up your visit with an afternoon tea located in the Herb Garden.
A 15 minute drive from the Courtyard Marriott, the Old Town Calabasas Farmers Market is open Saturdays from 8am-1pm. This large farmers market, with over 20 vendors, offers local produce, flowers, dried fruits (there is an incredible vendor with several different kinds of dried dates!) and local cuisine (definitely stop by the tamales booth if you're hungry!).
Made famous in Rebel Without a Cause, the Griffith Observatory hosts hiking trails, space exhibits, a planetarium and gorgeous views of Los Angeles, including the famous Hollywood Sign! This Los Angeles attraction is a 30 minute drive from the Courtyard Marriott in Encino. Parking can be tricky at the top, so if you are able to walk up to a mile uphill, you can park for free in the area around the Greek Theatre. Paid parking can be found at the Observatory’s public parking lot, parallel parking on West Observatory Road, and parallel parking on Western Canyon
