Brandon and Brooklynn both attended Kentucky State University, however they had never crossed paths throughout their college years. They each returned to the university as Alumni in 2019 to celebrate their HBCUs homecoming. Brooklynn was enjoying the tailgating experience with some of her closest college friends while Brandon hung with his fraternity brothers. Somehow, the two got away from the crowd and Brooke went to have a seat. While trying to get up, Brooklynn literally stumbled across Brandon! In efforts to assist her, Brandon quickly braced her fall. He asked if she was okay, she responded yes and the two went about their day. Weeks later, Brandon slid in Brooke's DM and the rest was history, the two were inseparable.

What Brooklynn believed to be a weekend getaway in celebration of the two's birthday turned out to be one of the best days of her life. Brandon coordinated an entire day dedicated to Brooke. The two attended brunch, where he suprised her by inviting her cousins and friends into town. They later attended dinner and Brandon mentioned that he wanted to hang out near Lakeshore Drive. They arrived near the location and took a trolly to avoid the long distance. Brandon requested that the driver stop by Buckingham Fountain. To her surprise, she was welcomed by some of her closest family and friends with a beautiful red carpet leading to a sign asking the big question "Brooklynn Will You Marry Me?"
