How We Met

March 22,2019

Most of this story boils down to Zach being a nerd, because of first two interactions were at robotics competitions. My brother Grant was the main robot driver for the Jacktown Vectors, it was a highschool program for kids who were interested in engineering. One day I had stopped in and wanted to get a picture, i had heard Grant talk about Zach but I has never officially gotten the chance to meet him. So i walked up to them and asked Zach to take a picture of Grant & I together. I thought he was cute but I didn't really think anything of it. A few weeks later at the World Competitions in Detroit, I sat one seat in front of Zach and we sparked up a conversation. We chatted throughout the day and then on my way home, I stalked him on Facebook, added him and sent him a message. He responded instantly and for the next few months we talked constantly. Then, I went on a one month trip to Europe, and kinda forgot about him. I returned, got a new phone and started up a summer accelerated chemistry class. It was HARD. My mom suggested that I ask Grant’s (really smart) mentor, Zach to tutor me. I was a little hesitant but i found him again on Facebook and messaged him. He liked the idea and soon he was coming over to my grandparents house (where i was living for the summer since it was closer to my college), and we would study chemistry. I knew that Zach was someone I wanted in my life forever. Long story short...I knew he was the one for me not long after that...The weeks turned into months, we became best friends, on the phone for hours, learning everything we possibly could about each other. He was very practical and one of the first gifts he gave me was a brand new electric toothbrush...not exactly roses and chocolates, but I loved it. And here we are!! I guess the tutor and the student had some “chemistry”! 😂 the bracelet that I’ll be wearing is the first present he ever gave me, its the chemical sign for serotonin, the “happiness” molecule. J

Zach’s Version...

I started mentoring Grant for the Jacktown Vectors, we bonded well and I hit it off well with him. At the World Competitions, Brooke came over and sat next to me...we started talking mainly about Grant. I didnt think to much about it, but later that night she had left but i was still there, i got a Facebook message from her. She was thanking me for helping with Grant. She asked me to come to the lake house by the third text. We talked on and off for the next few weeks. Once summer rolled around, she asked me to be her tutor for a chemistry class. So I started getting paid to hang out with a cute girl, (even though chemistry was my second worst subject in science, but i didnt tell her that!), after each session I was able to spend time with her family too. By the end of the semester, I figured out that the cute girl was not just attractive but that she was actually very smart and kind as well. I remember many conversations hanging on for dear life on the back of a tube on the lake. A few months later I knocked on the door to the house she was babysitting at and asked her to be my girlfriend. When we first started dating, we would take walks around Lime Lake, talking about everything and nothing for hours on end. During these walks, as I got to know her, I just fell more and more in love with her. She was my best friend and I felt like I could tell her anything. I had never met anyone like her and I knew that she would be my wife someday. The past year and a half have definitely been tough for many reasons, but it has been the best year of my life. We’ve been through so much together already and it’s only made us stronger. I decided that there was no point in waiting any longer and asked her to be my wife.
