We're Getting Married!

Nathan and I met in 9th grade during summer band camp. Even though we shared several friends (including a best friend and played on the same t-ball team), our paths somehow never crossed until that summer. If you ask Nathan, he’ll tell you he lured me in with his “great flirting” skills: a bright orange cast and a request for me to tie his shoes… even though they were perfectly tied every single day. Spoiler alert: he wasn’t fooling anyone. Our playful flirtation continued from dance to dance, always “just friends” to anyone who asked, until finally, about eight long months later, Nathan asked me to be his girlfriend. As many of you well know, Nathan takes life at his own pace. That summer, after not hearing from him over the course of two months, I tried to break up with him over his less-than-stellar communication skills… but found out that in reality: he’d just lost his phone (somehow in his brother's dress shoe). After almost an entire summer of waiting for a reply, Nathan finally texted asking me on a date. Of course, realizing my luck and great fortune of being blessed by his text (can you tell Nate wrote this part), I instantly said yes, and the next few years flew by full of laughter, adventures, and memories. College brought its challenges, and Nathan and I took a break to focus on ourselves. But our paths crossed again, and we’ve been stronger together ever since. Over the past ten years, we’ve built a life full of love and little joys: moving in together, adopting our cat Sparrow, and becoming regulars at Hungry Howie’s. Nathan patiently explains the finer points of football (and why Ohio State is the best team alive), while I provide minute-by-minute debriefs on my day, newest drama from my school, or every juicy detail from my latest novel. Through it all, we support, challenge, and learn from each other every single day. Now, we’re beyond excited to start this next chapter together, and we’re so grateful to have all of you here to celebrate the beginning of our new adventure.
